Hi guys,
After cooling my heels (!) I am back to the office with very sweet memory of all the time spent with all of you on our Kumaon adventure. First of all, very big thanks to Sabeena who made it happen and gave us a life time experience of many things. Other than training on team work, trust and belief, this outing has brought some of the

About Saat-taal
|
|
Saat-taal is nestled in the beautiful
Kumaon region in northern India. It is a quiet place with lots of
lakes nearby. It is about 295 kilometres from Delhi and 33 kilometres
from Kathgodam, the last railway head in the Kumaon region. |

Accomodation and facilities
|
| The camp has various all weather
Mountain Trekking Tents. All the units have comfortable bedding and
clean 'camp toilets' facilities, meant for the adventurous spirits |
|
| Why Saat-taal? |
|
I could see why - the idea of spending a night on tented accommodation,
on the edge of a forest, without electricity is not in tune with
a typical holiday experience. But surely, even the most adventurous
traveller is allowed a few typical holiday moments. Even if it were
only to make you realise that the most ordinary things can spring
a few surprises!
Of the seven lakes, Hanuman-taal, Bhiyun-taal and Sukha-taal are
seasonal, filling up when the monsoon is at its peak. Sukha-taal
lies en route a delightful hike to a waterfall, a short distance
from the camp. In a place like this, you're always in a good mood
and you make friends easily.
Amongst all the fabled taals in the Lake District, Saat-taal is
the prettiest. I suspect the low homo sapien numbers here have everything
to do with it!
Interestingly, most of the lakes are named after characters from
the Ramayana. The perennial lakes are fed by underground springs.
Of these Ram, Sita and Laxman are interconnected lakes, while a
hill separates Garud-taal from the trio.Fresh water fish are fairly
numerous, but anyone who wants to go fishing needs a permit. Local
myths and legends give Garud-taal a mystical aura. Some even say
it is haunted.
